Where does humanistic culture lead?

(April 6, 1894-April 7, 1979) survived two world wars in Serbia, and in this treatise on European culture he discerns the problems with the European worldview that led to such a human disaster, and touches upon the probable future.

Theanthropic culture transfigures man from within, and thereby likewise influences his external condition. It transfigures the soul, and by way of the soul, it transfigures the body. According to this culture, the body is the temple of the soul, and it lives, moves and has its being through the soul. Take away the soul from the body and what will remain other than a stinking corpse? The God-man first of all transfigures the soul, and subsequently also the body. The transfigured soul transfigures the body; it transfigures matter.

There are several services written to St. Paisios in Greek, and I will refrain from additional translations right now, for several reasons, but especially until we know which service will get the final approval.

St. Mary of Egypt and Moral Progress

The suggestion has been made several times recently that my criticism of moral progress is not supported by the example of the saints. Surely, it is said, the transformations we read about in the lives of the saints are clear examples of moral progress. A noted such example, perhaps the greatest story of repentance and asceticism known in the Church, is that of St. Mary of Egypt. It is worth looking carefully at her life (for which we have a canonical narrative) and consider what it is, exactly, that we are seeing. She is, indeed, a proper example of the transformation of the Christian life – one that is extended to the entire Church on the 4th Sunday of Great Lent. But I will again suggest that moral progress is largely a modern notion (it is certainly rife with Modern assumptions), driven by modern psychological and therapeutic models. And although moral progress would seem to be a correct way (for some) to describe the Church’s theology of synergy (that we cooperate in our salvation), it is in fact a distortion of that teaching and a distraction from the true transformation that is ours in Christ. St. Mary provides excellent material for all of this.

Retko se dešava da imate priliku da pišete o nečemu za šta odmah znate da pripada najuzbudljivijim svedočanstvima o popularnoj kulturi. Kad se prvi put pojavila 1995, ova knjiga je izazvala manju senzaciju i pomešane reakcije, jer je ponudila uvid u pogled sa strane nekog venčanog za rock bend, odnosno njegovu tragičnu umetničku zvezdu, koja je počinila samoubistvo u zajedničkoj kući, izgradivši sebi slavoluk patnje.

Tekst je predan 1990. i odbranjen 1991. kao diplomski rad na katedri za stilistiku zagrebačkog filosofskog fakulteta; u međuvremenu je zanimanje za Crnjanskog višestruko poraslo kao što je porastao i broj radova o njemu ali smo pripremajući rad za štampu izabrali da ostane u vremenu u kojem je nastao. Njegov naslov možda ne bi bila još jedna "analogija apokaliptičkog porijekla" da istoimena knjiga Julije Kristeve (koja nam je bila nepoznata kada je rad pisan) nije tokom narednih godina prevođena u jednom rovu u Jasenovcu.

Episkope kruševačkog Davida (Perovića), remezijanskog Andreja (Ćilerdžića) i lipljanskog Jovana (Ćulibrka), međutim, ovakvi spojevi ne čude. Певач групе “Дипеш мод” прешао у православље

Група “Дипеш мод” у недељу увече је одржала велики концерт на београдском Ушћу, али мало је познато да је певач овог енглеског бенда Дејвид Ган још 1999. године прешао у православље.

Ган, који је током деведесетих година прошлог века имао много проблема са дрогом и депресијом, оженио се са Џенифер, пореклом Гркињом и одлучио да постане православац.

Skoro sat i po vladika je govorio o „religijskim motivima u jugoslovenskom rokenrolu“ - kako je bila naslovljena tribina Instituta za noviju istoriju.
